In my humble opinion…

You’re over-qualified for your brand

It’s time for your brand to catch up to all your education, experience, hard work, and late nights

Aside from being in your shoes once or twice, here’s why we should buddy up:

Brands we’ve helped leave their newbie status in the dust

You’re going to reach a point in your business where everything feels uncomfy, and that’s a good thing ;)

That’s when you have to make the decision to either grow up and grow forward, or stay small (and it’s a scary decision to make!). All of the elbow grease you’ve put in to building your offers, perfecting your process, learning and educating deserves to be accounted for and recognized.

And your brand just isn’t doing it justice.

Like a pair of low rise jeans — you can either spend your day pulling them up countless times, always feeling a little awkward, or you can get a pair of jeans that fit you like a glove (hi, Levis high waisted!)

We’ll work with you to:

→ ditch the imposter syndrome & comparison trap

→ create a brand that calls in all the best-fit clients

→ back it up with a growth plan so you never feel lost in your business again

Well I’m Cheryl, you probably know that by now

FOUNDER

Sometimes you gotta fake it till you make it, but what happens when you actually “make it”?

I started & have grown this business from some online courses I took from the comfort of my couch. It’d be hypocritical of me to say you need a formal, university level education or fancy degree to “make it” in your industry.

But there’s a difference between someone who signs in for a 6 hour ‘how to’ weekend workshop, and someone who doesn’t stop trying to further their education so they can provide the best solutions for their clients.

Before I joined the branding world, I spent 10+ years in the health & wellness industry. You can bet your bottom I’ve witnessed brand owners come face-to-face with the feeling of being undervalued for the time, effort, and straight-up sacrifice they’ve given their business.

From misaligned clients, to being called ‘too expensive’, to competing with all of the fast & cheap trends out there, it’s downright frustrating.

I started Hey Sunny Studio with a longing to help those gritty, big-dreamin’ business owners be seen for what they’re worth. To out beat the weekend warriors, side hustlers, gimmicky brands.

And since starting, we’ve helped clients like:

Scroll saw artists increase their yearly revenue by $30k,

Photographers increase their prices by a couple thousand and book up their entire year of weddings,

Energy healers flip the script on being ‘woo’ and become a credible source for their clients

Female medical practitioners open the doors of a female-only clinic and fill up their calendar with patients who see the value in their education

And countless other business owners ditch imposter syndrome, work through their growing pains and build a brand that lives up to their expertise.

Whether you have a PhD on your wall, or a host of money invested in personal development & business courses, you deserve to be recognized as the leader you are in your industry.

Speed Round!

  • Always up at 5am for snacks because my highschool sweetheart made me a mom at age 22 – exactly 3 kids ago.

  • I can find an Adam Sandler quote for any given moment (I double dog dare you to test me on it)

  • My dad suddenly passed away when I was 18 (trauma, am I right?) and it was a pivotal point where I could choose to let it defeat me or heal from it and shape my life into what it is now.

  • That made me realize how valuable everyday is, that death has no return policy, so I dove into becoming the best person I possibly could, became a workout and health fanatic, and started my entrepreneurial journey in the online wellness space (the first step to a 10+ year social media marketing role)

  • My eyes were flung wide open when I realized how fast people were roped into the quickest, easiest solution for their problems. It felt dog-eat-dog out there trying to compete.

  • Became a closet Lord of the Rings nerd thanks to my husband

  • Was a trainer, lead nutrition coach and copywriter at a gym for 4 years, where I witnessed its peak of success and utter collapse when 11 staff members quit within 1 week and the gym shut its doors (it was probably the length of my emails that did it…)

  • This made me realize the disconnect that service providers have with their clients. The struggle to showcase their knowledge, market their offers in a way that’s seen as the best-fit solution to their dream clients, AND cut through all of the under-educated wannabes that are in it for the quick-buck. I knew I was the one for the job, and had to help these female brand owners position themselves far, far away from all that noise.

  • I fully committed to learning how to bake sourdough bread, start a garden & got chickens (although they were eaten by a fox…)

  • Now I get to raise my kiddos while working from home, at the same time as helping other female brand owners grow their brand so they can do the same! (inception?)

  • I’m just a small town girl livin’ in a small town world with an odd enjoyment of stacking wood & a deep love and appreciation of all things nature

SENIOR DESIGNER

Oh, HI! I’m Laura.

Surrendering to the momentum of life is scary, but oh so worth it.

If you asked 14 year old Laura what she wanted to be when she was a “grown up” she would say something like, a midwife during the day, tattoo artist at night, and a marine biologist on weekends. ( Did that give me age away?) I never knew what I truly wanted to spend my life doing, I was always flip flopping between my creative brain, and my logistic brain.

I’ve worked in hospitality, retail, reception, and while I LOVED being around people, and being busy, it was so repetitive. Secretly, I enjoyed designing the sandwich board sign, or setting up the retail displays more than I enjoyed actually doing any of my necessary work tasks. I started becoming less fulfilled with working late nights, and opposing schedules with my partner. I daydreamed about working for myself, what I would do, how I could contribute REAL efforts to help support our family, while not being away from my kids 90% of the time

Being at that stage of life, as a woman, and as a mother is so powerful, yet absolutely terrifying. But I surrendered. I opened my heart and mind to the idea that that might be a possibility for me and to stop over thinking it. Trusting that when something comes to you, or is brought your attention, it’s all on purpose.

Since working alongside my best gal Cheryl, I have been able to put my energy, essence, and self into so many women owned spaces since I’ve begun working within this industry. I have seen women flourish, women bring their husbands home from work, and most importantly I’ve been blessed with watching them say YES to themselves, and invest in something that is not only helping their specific clientele but is also helping themselves reach their highest potential.

When I look back at what 14 year old me wanted out of life, I no longer see it as midwife/tattoo artist and marine biologist - I see a woman who supports women, who gets to create art that translates into exactly what someone envisioned for their business and themselves. (Oh, and I think the marine biologist is just a millennial thing… )

So here’s your reminder, the universe doesn’t make mistakes. You’re here for a reason. Where does your heart want you to go, I promise the jump might be scary, but it’s oh so worth it.

Lets get personal!

  • Name a craft, I betcha I’ve tried it. If you wanna try it, I betcha I have every single thing you need to start.

  • Cheryl and I met through Facebook (lol), as we both became mothers, had a coffee and became best friends instantly.

  • My mother was a single mom of 3, by the time I was 4 years old we had already a massive move across Canada via train, lived in a woman’s shelter and made multiple moves to settle in Alberta, where she went back to school. She worked her ass off for us, and I believe thats why I root so hard for women creating something for themselves, big or small.

  • I’m a right brained Libra, who often finds herself spiralling over trying to figure out which path will get me to the end goal I want, all while considering every single little possibility and outcome possible. Which arguably makes me the greatest brainstormer and motivator in the entire world.

  • My coffee is reheated at least 5 times a day

  • Alongside working with Hey Sunny Studio, I also own a makers store with my mom! We have 30 small business owners who have their products on our shelves. It’s been an incredible way to see the power of branding and what customers will gravitate towards or away from simply by the colours, logos, and label designs.

What’s happening in our neck of the woods

Care to go for a stroll?

I’ll spare ya the whole “follow your passions, fulfill your purpose” lines you see plastered everywhere.

We both know that’s why you’re here.

You have a brand that you’ve outgrown, are tired of trying to fix yourself — you’re banging your head off the wall wondering what’s going to get your business growing again AND feeling good.

You need a brand identity that’s going to be easy to implement - from socials to newsletters to your courses

You need a personality framework so that you don’t feel the need for a suit & tie every time you show up on the ‘gram

You need a website that’s going to blatantly say “i’m for you!” to your dream clients, and show your not-best-fit ones the door

You need a clear path to launch your brand, your offer, your retreat, your services so that you stop obsessing over the vanity metrics & start seeing the conversions role in

You need the visuals that aren’t same-same as everyone else, because you know you’re not

What if you had a design partner, a brand coach, that could give you all of that and then some?

smacks butt & yeehaws 🤠

We’re a good fit if…

→ You understand that building your brand & growing your business is going to take a bit more work than just posting on socials everyday

→ You’re a little nervous to hand everything over to a stranger and would rather take a collaborative approach

→ You’re tired of kicking tires on what to do next, and ready to heed the inner call and grow into the next phase of your brand

→ You don’t want to be one of those girly brands who looks like they have their shit together all the time (you just wanna be you in your biz, baby)

→ You’re barefoot more often than in shoes

IF YOU WANT TO TRY US ON FOR SIZE

We’ll give you some brand & IG feedback for freeeee

With everyone in the online space telling you to follow their magic formula for success (it’s like a 2000’s weight loss commercial), it’s hard to know what step to take that’s going to bring you legitimate results for your business.

We’d be happy to cut through the noise, pop over to your IG and give you the what’s-what on whats working for your brand & socials, and where you could refine or double down a bit more.

Some tough love, a couple pats on the back & personalized direction for you to take.
