How to Create a Memorable Experience with your Brand

If you’re struggling with new leads, return customers and gaining more traction in your business - this is for you!

Staying sticky in someone’s brain as the go-to in your industry ultimately comes down to creating a memorable experience. A memorable experience means that when they are out and about and they come across specific things like colours, textures, designs etc their mind immediately goes to you. There are quite a few factors that go into creating a memorable experience:

  1. Quality of Services or Products

  2. Marketing Material

  3. Your Brand Persona connection points

  4. Songs

  5. Textures/Colours/Designs

We’re going to chat about the lower 3 points today.

By now you should know that i’m a storyteller, so I have a great reference for you with framing the picture of Memorable Experience in your mind.

The other day I was driving my kiddos to daycare (they go twice a week) and we were listening to the Frozen soundtrack, of course on shuffle and the only songs coming up were the instrumental ones. As this very dramatic song came on my daughter pipes up and goes “this is the part where Ana is frozen on the lake and Christophe is running out to see her!” and that instantly made me think about the experience our brand can provide for a potential customer/client.

Without even watching the movie for over 3 months, my daughter was able to pinpoint the exact moment in the movie because the song triggered that clip in her mind, and as I was driving there came on these big dramatic BOOMs and clashes (it was quite intense at 7:30am if i’m being honest haha) and it made me feel on edge and like I was going to blast into another world.

Now, Frozen has created dolls, bedsheets, colouring books and so much more. The movie has created an experience for their watchers so that even on an instrumental song they are reminded of an exact moment.

That’s what we want for your Brand.

We want your brand to be so memorable, so recognizable that when someone is out at a big box store and they hear a song come on they are instantly reminded of you. They put down the candle holder/earrings/t shirt etc, hop in their car, open up their phone and go to your store instead.

We want it so that when someone recognizes a colour palette on a poster outside a sporting goods store they are instantly reminded of your programs or your hair salon or your cafe and they turn back to your services instead.

So how do we create a memorable experience?

Each time someone interacts with your brand whether it’s going to your IG profile, seeing your products in real life, landing on your website is helping to shape the experience they have with you. And in the beginning stages of business, your first 1-2 years, it’s understandable to be unsure of what sort of experience you want to provide. One of the questions we ask during our Strategy Sessions is ‘ How do you want a potential client/customer to feel when interacting with your brand’. Some of the answers we’ve gotten are: empowered, motivated, safe, heard, nurtured, educated, understood. Now you need to think to yourself - how are you going to make someone feel that way?

You can utilize the colours of your brand, the font you’ve chosen, music you use on your reels and in your stories and even the texture of your business cards aid in the feeling that your brand provides.

Now to get more particular:

Staying cohesive in your brand colours and your brand fonts allows someone to associate those design aspects with your business. So when they are out and about and they see something similar, they think of you.

Using the same kind of genre of music on your stories and reels can provide trigger moments when someone is in the car or in a store, and it also creates a connection point with them as they may have similar taste as you.

And how you act, how you speak and the value of information you put out also rolls into the experience. This is all about building your Brand Persona, and if you' want to read more about that then check out this post here.

Bottom line: If you want to become memorable, you need to provide an experience, and to provide an experience you need make them feel something.
