How to Cultivate a Memorable Brand
Everyone’s viying for a front seat position in the minds of their dream clients, but with so much noise out there, so many options, how do you create a brand that’s louder than everyone else?
Easy — make it memorable.
One of the most subtle, yet impactful ways to do this is by creating Brand Associations.
“What are brand associations?” — i’m glad you asked!
Brand Associations are unique-to-you things that you add a focal point to whenever marketing your brand. They could be:
your routines
items you use everyday
statements/quotes you say on the regular
key outfit pieces
Something you already do/have/use in your everyday life! It doesn’t have to be flashy or big or extravagant, it just needs to be something that ties in to your brand personality.
By incorporating a focus on these Brand Associations, you start to create memory triggers for your dream clients. They’ll be shopping at a clothing store, and see the specific colour of sweatshirts that you wear, and instantly think of you (bonus points if that colour is also one of your brand identity colours). Your dream clients will see a style of hat that you wear on every Friday and you’ll flash in their mind*.*
It’s another way to build up your brand world, so that they’re constantly wanting to tune in to your IG stories or newsletter and see what the daily post is with your brand associations featured. Think of it like little daily episodes!
Here’s some ideas:
Your daily dog walk
Snapshot of your shoes & steering wheel while at the school pickup line
Arranging your monthly flowers for your table centrepiece
Daily journaling session
You can use that footage as b-roll clips for your reels too. It helps to build up the whole ‘vibe’ of your brand, which in turn will help attract your dream clients, and repel the not-best-fit ones.
We also do this with you, and build up a whole strategy around it in Brand Camp, our 1:1 no-fluff Brand Strategy, Design AND Implementation project.
Building a brand now takes so much more than a single logo and posting consistently online. You have to have a strategy in place that builds up your brand awareness and starts to make you stick in the minds of all your best-fit clients.
You have to be sprinkling your brand in as many places as you can for them to see and experience.
Jog your dream clients memory in the coffee aisle of a grocery store on a Tuesday? Now you’re really sticking.
Like bubblegum ice cream on my toddlers hands.
